Canada has offered to do a blood test laser

Cientists from Canada have proposed to use for the analysis of blood laser writes ScienceNow.

We are talking about the photoacoustic effect, which can provide information about the shape of bodies by irradiating them with short laser pulses.

In the study, researchers irradiated red blood cells, red blood cells, laser flashes with a duration of about 800 nanoseconds. The absorption of photons led to a rapid, albeit slight warming and a corresponding expansion of the cells.

Given that, for example, red blood cells become more malaria, and in sickle cell anemia take the form of a crescent, scientists have learned to distinguish between normal red blood cells from the "disease" with a modified form.

Experiments have shown that such an analysis, as opposed to a standard microscope, requires only a few dozen cells and carried out very quickly.

However, while the new method will be difficult, as these technologies are extremely expensive. Furthermore, it is not suitable for analyzing leukocytes, whose shape is little evidence of disease.
