September 22 the British Ministry of Health has officially informed the World Health Organization (WHO) on the allocation of the patient's new, hitherto unknown species of coronavirus, which causes the development of severe acute respiratory syndrome, accompanied by renal insufficiency.

Subsequently, the coronavirus was named MERS-CoV (coronavirus that causes respiratory syndrome Middle East (Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome)).

Despite all the efforts of the staff of a specialized center in Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, the patient died as a consequence of a sharp deterioration.

 "We still do not know exactly what killed him. Virus effectively turns your lungs to jelly, so secondary infection becomes a real threat," - said virologist John Bible.

According to the latest data, the total number of laboratory confirmed cases of MERS-CoV in the world is 77, 43 of them fatal. Most of them are in Saudi Arabia.

Last month, the first case of MERS-CoV registered in Italy.

WHO urges all States to continue surveillance for acute respiratory infections and scrutinize unusual manifestation.

For example, the World Health Organization consider it necessary to take the tests for the new coronavirus all people who came from the Middle East with symptoms of acute respiratory infections.

The greatest danger of the virus is that doctors still do not know much about him, and about how it is transmitted.
