Scientists have observed a flare radio emission of extragalactic origin

Scientists have documented a series of ultra-short bursts of radio emission that are supposedly extragalactic origin.

According to the expert of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, USA Scott Ransom, it is one of the most important discoveries in the field of cosmic radiation in the last twenty years.

Now astrophysicists have not been able to identify the source of radiation, but it is possible that something so powerful that emits radio waves that our science is not yet known.

According to study leader Daniel Thornton of the University of Manchester's interested in bursts of radio signals in space after in 2007 about something like the astronomers said. However, if information has not been confirmed outbreaks.

Analysis of the radiation indicates that the waves coming from the facility, located at a distance of a few billion years. Probably, says Thornton, their sources may be neutron stars and black holes.

Scientists note that to see the source of this radiation is extremely difficult. Provided that the surge lasts only one-thousandth of a second chance to direct the telescope at the source will be very small.

To work with an unknown phenomenon Thornton and his colleagues from the UK, Germany, Australia, Italy and the United States used the 64-meter radio telescope in Australia's Parkes Observatory.

The composition of ultrashort radio signals that have registered scientists suggests that the electrons are called the Milky Way is only 3-6% of the total variance, which means that the radiation source is somewhere far beyond our galaxy. Presumably, the radio broke the way from 5.5 to 10 billion light years.

Given that the age of the universe is estimated to be about 13.8 billion years old, the oldest source of outbreaks appeared after all a few billion years after the Big Bang.

In one version of the radiation source is an object that is relatively small but powerful energy. Presumably, it could be a magnetar - a neutron star, which has a very strong magnetic field.

In order to know exactly the location of the source and nature of the scientists do not have all the data.

The final results of this work will not only discover the source and cause of intense radiation, but also solve one of the mysteries of cosmology. According to the observations of the early universe, the total number of baryons, three-quark particle, which include the proton and the neutron, there should be more than we see today. If properly explore a new type of radio bursts, it will be possible to see where the same happened to the missing baryons.
